As a Financial Data Analyst at WesBank, you will collaborate closely with business units to provide financial insights, analysis, and expert advice. Using Python and data-driven approaches, you will support decision-making by developing processes that improve the efficiency and accuracy of financial services. Responsibilities

• Automate financial reporting, reconciliations, and data validation processes using Python
• Analyze large financial datasets to extract insights that support business decisions
• Develop dashboards and tools to streamline accounting workflows and improve visibility
• Collaborate with finance and IT teams to ensure data accuracy and enhance reporting efficiency
• Support budgeting and forecasting processes through data-driven analysis
• Ensure compliance with IFRS and other banking regulatory reporting requirements
• Apply financial expertise in areas such as auditing, tax compliance, and financial planning
• Leverage tools like Excel, Power BI, SQL, and ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc) for reporting and analysis
• Engage in data transformation and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to maintain clean and usable datasets

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, eg Qualified CA(SA) advantageous
• 5+ years of experience in current or similar role
• Proficiency in Python for data manipulation and automation
• Strong Excel skills and familiarity with financial systems
• Analytical mindset with attention to detail
• Bonus: Experience with SQL, Power BI, or other data visualization tools
• Accounting Expertise: In-depth knowledge of IFRS, and other bank specific regulatory reporting requirements
• Proven experience in auditing, tax compliance, financial planning and analysis
