Description

Discovery is seeking a Java Developer to join its Application Platform Services team. The role involves working on new projects and product enhancements for web and mobile platforms, improving business efficiency, and delivering better services to clients. The Java Developer will collaborate with Business Analysts, UX & Content Teams, System Architects, and Managers to design, implement, and maintain high-quality applications

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and maintain high-quality application software
• Enhance and troubleshoot existing applications efficiently
• Provide technical specifications and designs
• Assist with quality assurance and stakeholder presentations
• Support and maintain deployed applications on development, test, and production environments
• Analyze business needs and technical requirements to deliver innovative solutions

Qualifications

• Minimum: Matric/Grade 12 and formal Java qualifications
• 3+ years of Java systems development experience
• Experience with Java EE, SOAP & REST services, Git, and WebLogic
• Knowledge of OO design principles and development patterns
• Preferred: IT-related Degree/Diploma (BSc/BTech or similar)
• Experience with Spring Framework, Angular, SQL, ORM, and UI development (HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, Spring MVC)
• Familiarity with UML, Agile methodologies, and Test-Driven Development
• Advantageous: Honours Degree
• DevOps/Continuous Integration experience
• Experience with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, Bamboo, Bitbucket)
