Description

The Compliance Officer position in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa requires 1-2 years of experience and a solid understanding of gambling and Data Protection legislation. The role involves conducting research, compiling reports, and making legally sound recommendations on legal and compliance issues. The candidate must also manage contracts, licenses, and liaise with regulatory bodies. They are responsible for overall compliance advice to Management, assisting with the implementation of the Protection of Personal Information Act, staying updated on evolving best practices, developing compliance frameworks and procedures, ensuring internal controls, identifying gaps in processes, mitigating risks, reviewing critical business policies, designing annual compliance monitoring plans, conducting regular internal audits, leading investigations and remediation, escalating compliance issues to Management, preparing for independent reviews and external audits, ensuring technical correctness of policy documents, implementing standards, policies, and procedures, and driving compliance awareness. The job is on-site and requires a strong understanding of gambling and Data Protection legislation.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research, when necessary, compile required reports and papers, and make legally sound recommendations regarding legal and compliance issues
• Attend to contract reviews
• Manage and maintain the contracts register
• Report monthly on status of the contracts and attend to renewals and terminations thereof
• Attend to all applicable licensing, approvals and consents required from regulatory authorities

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Law, Business Administration, Finance
• 1 -2 years’ experience in a similar role
• Solid understanding of applicable gambling legislation and regulations and Data Protection legislation and be able to stay updated on the changes thereto
