Description

The Cabin Crew Member at South African Airways is responsible for ensuring the safety, security, and comfort of all passengers during flights while delivering a world-class 5-star customer experience. This role includes executing inflight service procedures, managing onboard safety protocols, resolving customer issues, and maintaining regulatory and service standards as defined by SAA and SACAA. As a frontline representative of the airline, the Cabin Crew Member plays a vital role in promoting the corporate brand and upholding the professional image of SAA across domestic and international routes

Responsibilities

  • Safety and Compliance Ensure safety and well-being of all passengers and crew during flight
  • Conduct safety checks and briefings in line with SACAA regulations and SAA standards
  • Respond to and manage inflight medical emergencies and evacuation procedures
  • Report non-compliance incidents to the Purser and/or Flight Commander
  • Ensure adherence to CAA regulations, company SOPs, and safety policies

  • Customer Experience Deliver a premium, personalized service aligned with SAA’s 5-star customer service standards
  • Maintain excellent communication and interaction with passengers, cabin crew, and the flight deck
  • Assist customers with special needs and provide high levels of hospitality throughout the journey
  • Resolve onboard customer issues or complaints calmly and professionally

  • Operational Excellence Follow all instructions from the SCCM regarding aircraft-specific service routines
  • Support onboard catering and retail services efficiently and in accordance with set procedures

  • Participate in continuous improvement programs and inflight service innovation initiatives

  • Brand Representation Serve as a brand ambassador for SAA, maintaining grooming, etiquette, and professionalism at all times
  • Promote SAA’s values and protect the company’s image through consistent, high-quality service delivery

  • Collaboration and Reporting Work collaboratively with team members and flight crew to ensure smooth operations
  • Maintain confidentiality, ethics, and integrity during all interactions
  • Submit incident, safety, and performance reports as required

  • Grade 12 SACAA Licenced Crew Member
