Description

As a Database Administrator, you will administer, optimize, monitor, and fine-tune DB2 for z/OS databases on mainframes. Your role includes maintaining new databases, performing backup/recovery, configuration management, and database installations. You’ll collaborate across teams, implement strategies to enhance performance, and ensure compliance with best practices. The role requires hands-on experience in IBM DB2 environments and interaction with both development and production support teams.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and fine-tune DB2 database performance on z/OS
• Install and maintain DBMS software
• Design and implement database solutions
• Manage database authorization and access control (eg, TSO IDs and privileges)
• Conduct database performance analysis and recommend improvements
• Review and ensure SQL code quality before production release
• Provide production support for DB2/CICS/VSAM issues
• Participate in release management and quality assurance
• Perform standby duties and respond to after-hours database issues
• Maintain and analyze DB2 tables and VSAM file extents
• Support batch operations and reporting throughput on the BAS system
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and support end users in MVS environments

Qualifications

• z/OS DB2 DBA Certification
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a DB2 DBA in an IBM z/OS environment
• Working knowledge of:
• Mainframe (MVS)
• DB2 for z/OS
• SQL
• CICS
• JCL
• Windows OS
• Batch operations and MVS architecture
