Description

As a Front-End Software Engineer at Capitec Bank, you will be responsible for designing and developing responsive web and mobile interfaces that deliver seamless, intuitive client experiences. Working within a cross-functional team, you will transform business and UI/UX requirements into efficient, high-quality code using modern front-end frameworks and technologies. Your role will involve the full software development lifecycle—from design and development to testing and deployment—while ensuring performance, accessibility, and cross-browser compatibility.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance front-end software systems and applications
• Translate business or technical analyst requirements into functional front-end solutions
• Build solutions for mobile and web platforms, focusing on excellent user experience (UX)
• Convert UI/UX mockups into responsive, interactive, and accessible interfaces
• Implement responsive design principles for various screen sizes and devices (mobile-first development)
• Ensure cross-browser compatibility and optimize performance
• Use modern front-end frameworks and technologies, including build tools and package managers
• Follow established software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes and best practices
• Write clean, scalable, and maintainable code, adhering to front-end design patterns and testing practices

Qualifications

• Grade 12 National Certificate / Vocational
• A relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology
• 3+ years’ proven experience in front-end software development, project delivery and implementation (in relevant development technologies/language)
• Experience with modern front-end frameworks and technologies
• IT systems development processes (SDLC)
• Application development
• Advanced programming concepts: Responsive design principles and mobile-first development; Browser compatibility issues and performance optimisation; Front-end build tools and package managers
• Front-end Design Patterns
• Version Control
• Testing practices
• Clear criminal and credit record
