Description

The Handyman ensures a smooth and consistent resolution to maintenance issues logged during a shift and via verbal instructions. Areas of responsibility include: Security, Pools, Grounds, Hotel Rooms and any other area of the Hotel. The role will include general DIY and maintenance including basic carpentry, plumbing, painting and decorating.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections and maintenance on hotel facilities, including rooms, public areas, pools, and grounds
• Carry out minor repairs in plumbing, basic electrical work, carpentry, painting, and decorating
• Respond promptly to guest or staff maintenance requests and resolve issues efficiently
• Monitor and maintain security systems or assist with security-related maintenance tasks
• Ensure hotel equipment and fixtures are in good working order
• Keep maintenance records and update logs of work completed
• Support the team with setups, furniture moves, or general building upkeep
• Comply with health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures
• Communicate effectively with hotel staff and guests regarding maintenance activities
• Proactively identify and report areas needing repair or improvement

Qualifications

• Matric
• 1 – 2 Year previous Handyman/Maintenance experience
• Additional qualifications within the field advantageous (Salary Dependent)
• Hands on Problem Solving approach and the ability to remain calm under pressure
• Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently
• Effective communication with members of staff as well as Guests of the Hotel
• Honest and trustworthy beyond approach
• Great attention to detail
