Description

To provide graduates with structured practical legal training under the supervision of experienced attorneys, preparing them for admission to the High Court as fully qualified attorneys in South Africa.

Responsibilities

• Draft legal documents (contracts, pleadings, opinions)
• Attend court hearings and client meetings with senior attorneys
• Assist with research using legal databases (LexisNexis, Jutastat)
• Help prepare for transactions (due diligence, filings, closings)
• Follow Legal Practice Council (LPC) rules and deadlines
• Complete assigned tasks for the Legal Practice Development Framework (LPDF)
• Attend training sessions on ethics, advocacy, and law firm operations
• Manage case files and maintain organized records
• Shadow experienced attorneys to learn practical skills

Qualifications

• South African citizen/permanent resident
• Studied/studying towards a LLB, BA Law, BCom Law, BBusSci Law or BAccLLB at a South African Institution, or a foreign Law degree certified by SAQA as equivalent to an LLB degree
• On course to complete a LLB degree by the year indicated as eligible to commence Practical Vocational Training
