Join a dynamic team at Payfast, a leading global payments FinTech, as they seek a versatile Data Analyst to support their South African operations. Reporting to the Head of Data and VAS, the successful candidate will collaborate with various departments to extract valuable insights from data, support decision-making, and solve a range of complex problems across the business.

Responsibilities

• Turn raw data into valuable insights to support decision-making across the business
• Present insights in a clear, actionable manner to stakeholders
• Handle daily data requests from both internal and external stakeholders
• Develop and maintain automated data processes to improve efficiency and scalability
• Solve a variety of problems using first-principle thinking and business acumen
• Collaborate with different departments and work across several databases and systems
• Contribute to a small, agile data team in a company undergoing data maturity growth
• Document processes and contribute to team knowledge-sharing

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent 3-year tertiary qualification in a relevant field
• Proven experience in data analysis
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
• Strong SQL skills
• Experience using Python for data analysis and automation
• Familiarity with visualization tools such as Tableau, QlikSense, PowerBI, Looker, or Grafana
• Strong problem-solving capabilities
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Advantageous: Experience in the payments or banking industry
• Advantageous: Technical skills in database design and data modeling
