Description

To take responsibility for the collection of linen from Nursing Wards/Units, for the sorting and counting of linen, for receiving the linen and for the distribution of linen between the laundry and the Nursing Wards/Units once the linen has been cleaned/delivered.

Responsibilities

• Ensure laundry equipment is in good working order and report any issues to the Line Manager immediately
• Inform relevant parties about equipment problems and potential delays in laundry service
• Continuously check linen quality and identify items needing mending or disposal, reporting to the Line Manager
• Accurately record all linen issued and collected from Nursing Wards/Units
• Ensure soiled linen is removed from Nursing Wards/Units and kept separate from clean linen
• Coordinate with the laundry service provider for linen collection and return, ensuring accurate counts before and after cleaning
• Ensure that linen items are counted prior to collection by the service provider and upon return
• Handle general administrative tasks related to the laundry service
• Answer the telephone in a professional manner, ensuring proper communication
• Maintain effective communication with relevant parties regarding the laundry service

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or similar level of education essential
• 0 — I years' related laundry / administration experience
• Experience within a private hospital environment (advantageous)
• Computer Literacy
