Payfast, a leading global payments FinTech, is seeking a versatile Data Analyst to join its South African operations. Reporting to the Head of Data and VAS, the successful candidate will support various business functions by drawing insights from data, solving complex problems, and improving decision-making processes. The role involves working across multiple departments, optimizing data automation processes, and contributing to the company's data maturity journey.

Responsibilities

• Analyze raw data and provide insights to support business decision-making
• Communicate insights effectively to stakeholders
• Manage daily data requests from internal and external stakeholders
• Implement, maintain, and optimize data automation processes
• Solve complex problems in a fast-paced environment using first-principle thinking
• Work across multiple departments and interact with different databases and systems
• Document work effectively and contribute to knowledge-sharing within the team

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or a 3-year tertiary qualification in a relevant field
• Proven experience in data analysis
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
• Strong SQL experience
• Proficiency in Python for data analysis and automation
• Experience with visualization tools such as Tableau, QlikSense, Power BI, Looker, or Grafana
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Knowledge of the payments or banking industry (advantageous)
• Technical proficiency in database design and data models (advantageous)
