Description

Operate and maintain a forklift safely and cost-effectively while ensuring high standards of customer service. Support store operations through efficient stock merchandising, accurate shelf price labeling, and adherence to housekeeping and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Customer Service Greet and acknowledge all customers, assess their needs, and offer appropriate advice
• Address product queries and assist with complaints in a timely manner
• Provide efficient service by ensuring purchases are loaded promptly and without damage
• Promote additional services such as delivery, glass cutting, credit programs, and more
• Assist customers with loading goods safely and efficiently
• Merchandising Standards Safely merchandise bulk stock areas according to the store layout plan
• Maintain fully merchandised shelves aligned with approved layouts and planograms
• Housekeeping Keep areas clear of obstacles, ensuring customer safety and convenience
• Merchandise stock immediately after receiving it
• Ensure accurate shelf price labeling
• Complete checklists for canteen, toilet, and shower schedules as required
• Loss Prevention and Security Identify display gaps, investigate their causes, and report concerns to management
• Stay vigilant about suspicious behavior or activities and report suspicions to management
• Ensure products are loaded only with proof of purchase or required documentation
• Safety (OHSA) Requirements Avoid overloading the forklift, racking, or shelving
• Wear safety gear, including a helmet and kidney belt, at all times while operating the forklift
• Ensure entrances and exits are free from obstacles for customer safety
• Perform daily forklift inspections, complete checklists, and report faults immediately
• Report when the forklift is due for servicing and wear protective clothing as necessary

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or at least 1 year of relevant work experience
• Proficiency in English and the dominant local language
• Basic calculation and numerical skills
• Valid forklift license
• Physically fit to operate a forklift
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
