Dis-Chem Pharmacies is offering a Dispensary Support Learnership Programme for 2025. The programme aims to train learners to complete the learner basic pharmacist assistant course. It provides on-the-job learning to understand pharmaceutical principles and dispensing practices. Learners will be employed on a fixed-term basis as Dispensary Support until they register with the SAPC as learner basic assistants. Permanent employment will only be offered once they qualify as basic pharmacist assistants.

Responsibilities

• Sell Schedule 1 medicines and scheduled substances
• Assist in preparing non-sterile medicines or substances per SOPs
• Help with stock unpacking, merchandising, and cleaning
• Perform tasks assigned by the Dispensary Manager
• Accurately interpret scripts within legal guidelines
• Handle picking, labeling, and checking of medication, ensuring awareness of dosages and interactions
• Ensure medications are checked and signed by a pharmacist
• Manage stock organization, cleanliness, and expiry dates
• Follow up on script tracking and appointments
• Assist with call center scripts and patient service calls
• Promote health information to individuals
• Support chronic, HIV, AIDS, and oncology medication schemes
• Report stock levels and errors to the manager
• Receive and manage dispensary stock per SOPs

Qualifications

• Grade 12 with Mathematics (HG) and (Physical Science or Life Science) Must have obtained at least an average of 50%
