Responsibilities

  • Plan and design menus based on seasonal ingredients, client preferences, and budget considerations
  • Supervise and manage the kitchen staff, ensuring efficient daily operations
  • Oversee food preparation and presentation, ensuring dishes meet quality standards
  • Monitor and manage inventory, including ordering ingredients and maintaining stock levels
  • Ensure food safety and hygiene standards are strictly followed in compliance with health regulations
  • Control costs, including food, labor, and waste management, to meet financial goals
  • Contribute to staff development through training and mentorship

Qualifications

  • A culinary qualification in food and beverage services is mandatory
  • Proven experience in progressive culinary or kitchen management roles
  • Ability to work within budget guidelines to achieve successful outcomes
  • Knowledge of South African laws and industry-specific regulations
  • Strong skills in financial management, including budgeting and food cost control
