The Data Operations Group (Data Ops), part of Fitch's Chief Data Office (CDO), is seeking a Data Analyst to join its team in Pretoria. The role involves the collection, manipulation, and management of economic time series data, developing new methodologies and products, and providing deep subject matter expertise to support both internal and external users. The Data Analyst will collaborate with various teams across Data Ops, Fitch Ratings, and Fitch Solutions, contributing to the market leading research team based in global offices.

Responsibilities

• Efficiently gather, manipulate, and analyze time series data while developing expertise in data sources and methodologies
• Run forecast models and review outputs, seeking continuous improvement in models and methodologies
• Collaborate with research analysts to ensure accurate and timely data in products
• Respond authoritatively to internal and external queries regarding datasets and methodologies
• Work with internal and external teams on data capture requirements and delivery timelines
• Manipulate and structure datasets into user friendly dashboards within Excel

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in economics, statistics, or a related field
• Academic or professional experience working with macroeconomic data
• Proficiency in Excel, including commonly used formulas and techniques
• Exposure to economic forecasting and a basic understanding of methodologies
