Application Support Analysts provide application maintenance and support to organizations and companies, investigating problems with software applications, diagnosing root causes, and working on fixing them. They are responsible for identifying known errors and problem trends, finding permanent solutions, training new staff, providing expert advice, and defining application support standards and processes.
Areas of responsibility may include providing support to business users, investigating data discrepancies and application errors, proposing modifications and enhancements to existing applications, implementing creative solutions, conducting issue resolution, root cause analysis, and remediation, working closely with cross-functional teams, and understanding production support processes.
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of a Matric (Essential) and IT/Software qualification. Minimum experience includes no previous internship or graduate program in any industry or government institution, and be a South African citizen by birth or naturalization before April 27, 1994.
